ITINERARY

Day 1

Day 1

Arrive at the Edinburgh Airport and drive 30 minutes east to Edinburgh.

Recommended Sightseeing: Explore the Royal Mile

Scotland’s largest and capital city is a visually stunning and fascinating place. Start at Edinburgh Castle and wander down the cobbled streets of the Royal Mile to the Palace of Holyroodhouse. Along the way you’ll see and experience all that makes the city special, including the Scotch Whisky Experience, Real Mary Kings Close, St. Giles Cathedral, Greyfriars Kirkyard, the National Museum of Scotland and so much more.

edinburgh

Drive 1 hour and 45 minutes southwest to Irvine.

Check-In: Dundonald Links (6 Nights)

Dundonald Links offers luxury hotel accommodations just south of Irvine that are custom-designed with golfers in mind, pairing practicality with style for the ultimate in refined comfort. Rooms combine contemporary and legacy, to create something unique, and are just a swing away from the clubhouse and Canny Crow Restaurant. It’s a golfers retreat in Scotland like no other.

*Today’s pricing includes (2) 2-bedroom lodges. Each lodge has a central living room with couches and HD television, dining area, fully functional kitchen and a patio area with access to bbq area.

Day 2

Day 2

Drive 5 minutes north to Irvine.

Golf: Gailes Links

Gailes Links is home to Glasgow Golf Club, one of the world’s oldest golf clubs which was founded in 1787. The classic links layout is certainly a championship test, with gorse-lined fairways and thoughtful bunkering that have challenged the game’s best at final Open Qualifying on several occasions.

Gailes Links

Recommended Sightseeing: Explore Ayrshire

A day of sightseeing in Ayrshire likely starts with Culzean Castle, one of Scotland’s most visually stunning clifftop castles which is filled with treasures and rises above beaches, gardens and mysterious caves that guests can explore. Also nearby are the Burns Museum and Cottage, which honors the birthplace of Scotland’s favorite son – poet Robert Burns, and of course the A.D. Rattray Distillery, where you can end the day with a wee dram.

Day 3

Day 3

Golf: Dundonald

Having just opened in 2005, Dundonald Links has already made quite a name for itself, having hosted both the ladies and men at the Scottish Open. Renowned-architect Kyle Phillips put a modern twist on Scottish links golf with wide fairways and large greens, but prototypical challenging bunkers and undulating terrain lend an air of authenticity.

Dundonald

Drive 1 hour and 25 minutes north to Stirling.

Recommended Sightseeing: Visit Stirling

Once Scotland’s capital, Stirling is home to the world-famous Wallace Monument and a namesake castle, one of Scotland’s most important castles. Visitors can climb the monument, which commemorates the life of Sir William Wallace, and tour the castle grounds to lean about the rich history of one of Scotland’s most important cities.

*We would try to pair an early morning tee time (8-9am) with a day trip to Stirling. Since you can walk to the golf course, your driver would not have to begin his day early and can be available later into the day.

Wallace Monument

Day 4

Day 4

Drive 20 minutes northwest to Ardrossan to take ferry across to the Isle of Arran.

Recommended Sightseeing: Visit the Isle of Arran

The Isle of Arran makes for a fantastic day trip from the mainland. Accessible by ferry, Arran offers visitors with many sightseeing options to fill up the day including Brodick, Lochrnaza and Kildonan Castle, stone circles at Machrie Moor and Auchencar and the Arran Heritage Museum. The island is also known for its abundance of hiking trails and wildlife, including whale watching. You can also walk through some of its charming small towns and soak up the local food and fare. The Arran Distillery is a must for those Scotch whiskey fans!

*Costs for ferry crossing (approximately $15 per person) and transportation on Isle of Arran (TBD) not included in trip. We can also set up a guided tour of the Isle (multiple options) at an additional cost.

isle-of-arran

OPTIONAL: Drive 30 minutes southwest to Shiskine.

OPTIONAL Golf: Shiskine

Shiskine Golf Club is one of the most unique golf courses not only in Scotland, but maybe the entire world. The 12-hole, yes 12, seaside links course sits on the southwest end of the Isle of Arran. The course has undulating terrain and many “blind shots” with no two holes that are the same. With panoramic views across the Kilbrannan Sound to the Kintyre Peninsula throughout the round, it won’t take you long to realize that the journey to reach Shiskine was well worth it!

*Not included in today’s trip pricing. Green fees are approximately $55 per person (2025 rate).

Day 5

Day 5

Drive 1 hour northeast to Glasgow.

Recommended Sightseeing: Visit Glasgow

Scotland’s largest city and former industrial powerhouse has undergone a cultural renaissance and words like vibrant and hip are used to describe Glasgow’s transformation. Music, art and architecture are now at the core of the visitor experience – and highlights include the Kelvingrove Gallery, Riverside Museum, Glasgow Cathedral & Necropolis, Gallery of Modern Art, and even the Glasgow Central Station – where informative tours offer insight into the city’s complex past.

kelvingrove

Drive 1 hour southwest to Irvine.

Golf: Western Gailes

The genius of Western Gailes is in its simplicity. The circular layout is squeezed into a narrow strip of land between Irvine Bay and the coastal railway line, which significantly gave Glasgow-based members easy access to the club in its early days. It feels like the perfect amalgam of a bona fide traditional Scottish member’s club and a gorgeous seaside links.

*Today’s pricing includes an afternoon round at Western Gailes.

Western Gailes

Day 6

Day 6

Drive 10 minutes south to Troon.

Golf: Kilmarnock Barassie

The Kilmarnock Golf Club was founded in 1887 and has called the links at Barassie home since 1894! The layout, which regularly plays host to final Open Qualifying, challenges players with undulating links terrain, strategic bunkering, plus an ever-present sea breeze, and is known to have some of the finest greens in Ayrshire.

Barassie Links

Day 7

Day 7

Drive 2 hours and 15 minutes northeast to St. Andrews.

Recommended Sightseeing: Explore Historic St. Andrews

Although best-known as a golfing town, St. Andrews is also home to an array of fascinating medieval sites along with Scotland’s oldest university, so there is plenty to see. The town’s Castle and Cathedral are in ruins but still magnificently encapsulate the grandness of Scotland’s former religious centre, while stately university buildings and white sand beaches characterize a vibrant seaside town worth exploring.

st.-and-cathedral

Recommended Sightseeing: Take a Guided Walking Tour of the Old Course.

We highly recommend a guided walking tour of the famous St. Andrews Old Course on any visit to St. Andrews. The tour, led by a knowledgeable guide, lasts about 75 minutes and will take place around the 1st, 17th and 18th holes of the Old Course. This tour is a great way to soak up the history of the centuries-old fairways without having to secure a coveted tee time.

*Not included in trip pricing. Cost is approximately $27 per person (2025 rate).

St. Andrews Old Course

Drive 1 hour 45 minutes south to Gullane.

Check-in: The Mallard Hotel (4 Nights)

The Mallard Hotel is a 4-star hotel located in the seaside town of Gullane. The 18-room hotel offers comfortable ensuite rooms and is within walking distance of the center of town. With most of the area’s golf courses within a short drive, it is a great place to call home while visiting Scotland’s golf coast!

*Today’s pricing includes upgraded Golf View Twin rooms.

mallard-hotel-front

Day 8

Day 8

Drive less than 2-3 minutes north to Gullane.

Golf: Gullane’s No. 2 Course

Designed by 2-time Open Champion Willie Park Jr., Gullane’s aptly named No. 2 Course runs alongside the club’s No. 1 Course for the first seven holes before sweeping down to a nature reserve next to Aberlady Bay. The layout is relatively short compared to it’s older sibling course, but it’s a stern test with a great mix of par 3s, including the gorgeous 11th with views across the bay and beyond.

Gullane No. 2

Drive 1 hour west to Falkirk.

Recommended Sightseeing: Visit the Rosebank Distillery

The Rosebank Distillery, established in 1840, was one of the finest Scotch whiskies in the world, but due to an over saturation of the blended whisky market, the distillery closed its doors in 1993. But in 2017, the owners of Ian Macleod Distilers bought the distillery and reopened Rosebank in 2023. Today visitors can tour the distillery, hear about the story of Rosebank, sample its fine whisky and if the mood strikes you, you can even bottle your own one of a kind blended whisky!

Day 9

Day 9

Drive 10 minutes southwest to Aberlady.

Golf: Kilspindie

Kilspindie Golf Club is the epitome of a Scottish Hiddem Gem. From it’s par 3 start overlooking Aberlady Bay it is immediatley apparent that the location is special, and it has a history that dates to the mid-19th century (if not before), making it among the world’s oldest clubs. The par 69 course is short at only 5,500 yards from the “tips,” but that just enhances the authenticity and fun.

Kilspindie

Recommended Sightseeing: North Berwick

North Berwick is a beautiful seaside beach town with plenty to see and do. Adventurers can explore the coastal wildlife at the Scottish Seabird Centre, board a boat to visit the gannets at Bass Rock, or even climb an ancient volcano called North Berwick Law for an entirely different view to Bass Rock and beyond. Meanwhile other nearby attractions like Tantallon Castle, the National Museum of Flight, or the Glenkinchie Distillery (of course!), will fill any length itinerary.

Day 10

Day 10

Drive 30 minutes southeast to Dunbar.

Golf: Dunbar

Dunbar Golf Club has a history that few other clubs in the world can match. Golf in the town, a former Royal Burgh, actually dates back almost 400 years (!), while the club itself was founded in the 1850s. Over the years, greats like Old Tom Morris and James Braid have helped shaped it’s design: a true out and back links that is squeezed between an old sandstone wall and the stunning, rocky North Sea coastline.

The prices shown above are valid for 14 days. In order to confirm the trip and lock in your trip price, the next step is to pay the initial deposits as outlined above via the Book Now link below.

Payment of your initial deposit signifies your intent to travel with Cloud 9 Golf and Travel. Upon receipt of your payment, Cloud 9 will lock in your trip price with currency contracts and will pay non-refundable deposits to suppliers (golf courses, hotels, etc.) on your group’s behalf. Therefore, please note that payments made to Cloud 9 are non-refundable and we strongly encourage all clients to purchase travel insurance (shop travel insurance quotes here). Please see our T&Cs below for additional information regarding payment terms and policies.

Terms and Conditions

Cloud 9 will provide you with a Trip Proposal outlining the services that you have requested for your vacation package and applicable pricing. To accept the Trip Proposal, payment of the Initial Deposit must be made by or on behalf of all participants in your group. Once all deposits have been received, Cloud 9 will proceed with confirming the necessary bookings for your vacation. Payment of the Initial Deposit signifies your intent to appoint Cloud 9 to act as your agent to obtain the services you have requested. Payment of the Initial Deposit also signifies that you understand Cloud 9’s Booking Terms and Conditions, as outlined herein, and have accepted them on behalf of yourself and all members of your party. If you are booking as part of a group, you must designate a “Lead Participant” who is responsible for sharing these Terms and Conditions with each group member. Cloud 9 is not responsible for any group members misunderstanding of these terms and conditions.

Pricing: The per person trip price indicated in the agreed upon Trip Proposal is stated in US dollars and based on the number of participants as stated. If the number of participants changes, trip prices may change. Cloud 9 is not obligated to give a breakdown of the costs associated with a trip. Prices are valid for 14 days from the date the Trip Proposal is sent and, if all Initial Deposits have not been received within 14 days, Cloud 9 reserves the right to adjust the price.

Payments: Trip payments are payable directly to Cloud 9 and are payable by paper check, E-check/ACH, MasterCard, VISA or American Express. Unless otherwise stated above, payments are due to Cloud 9 in two installments and must be paid in accordance with the following schedule:

Initial Deposit – An Initial Deposit, as outlined in the agreed upon Trip Proposal, is due upon acceptance of the Trip Proposal. The Initial Deposit is non-refundable unless Cloud 9 is unable to provide tee times at any of the courses on your itinerary (this excludes the St. Andrews-Old Course if included through the advance application or any other courses that have been identified as being subject to availability).

Final Balance Payment – Unless otherwise stated, the final payment will be due approximately 90 days prior to departure and we will send an invoice to your group to confirm the exact due date.

Cancellations/Changes: Once Initial Deposit(s) are paid and trip bookings are in place, a Confirmed Itinerary will be sent to you to show all confirmed bookings for your trip. In certain instances, changes to your itinerary may be necessary at the time of booking and these will be communicated to the Lead Participant prior to confirmation. Once bookings are confirmed (will be shown in your Confirmed Itinerary) date changes or other changes to the agreed upon itinerary (as outlined in the Trip Proposal) are subject to availability and may result in additional charges, including the loss of non-refundable deposits, if applicable. Pricing changes will be confirmed with the Lead Participant in writing.

All payments to Cloud 9 are non-refundable (except as stated above in Payments regarding the Initial Deposit), so we strongly suggest that all of our clients purchase trip cancellation insurance and you can shop travel insurance quotes HERE. Specifically, we strongly encourage clients to purchase coverage for things like injury and illness (e.g. Covid-19), which allows travelers to recover trip costs should they have to cancel or suspend their trip. Costs associated with trip cancellation/interruption, medical expenses, and mandatory quarantine can all be covered to reduce risk. Group members who you choose to forgo travel insurance and then have to cancel their trip will assume full financial responsibility. Also, refunds cannot be issued for unused portions of the trip package, including for missed reservations due to disrupted air travel. Name changes are usually possible, and, with only a few exceptions, deposits are transferable should you need to find a replacement traveler.

In the case of a partial cancellation prior to final payment (only a portion of the group cancels), the trip price(s) for group member(s) who still plan to travel may increase to cover the unpaid prorated costs associated with the canceled trips.

Documentation: It is the duty of each group member to have a valid and current passport, if necessary, along with any other documents that may be necessary to travel (visas may be required for some destinations). Cloud 9 is not responsible for travel delays or cancellations that result from an invalid or missing travel documentation.

Course Handicap Requirements: Courses included on your itinerary may have handicap limits. It is the responsibility of each golfer to have a valid handicap card/certificate to present where required. Cloud 9 is not responsible for fees or cancellations that result from missing credentials.

Required Mobility: Some aspects of your trip may require a certain level of fitness and/or mobility to participate and it is up to each group member to assess their capabilities. Cloud 9 is not responsible for cancellations that result from a failure to meet these requirements.

Hotel Bookings: Unless otherwise stated, our price assumes double occupancy, shared rooms and is based on standard rooms. Upgrades are available at many hotels for an additional charge but requests for upgrades should be submitted to Cloud 9 upon paying your Initial Deposit.

Transportation: For chauffeured groups relying on the services of a driver, our price assumes that all group members will arrive and depart together from the same airport on the same day at approximately the same time. If additional transfers are required or an expense is incurred to cover a driver’s waiting time, the additional cost will be passed along to your group.

Unless otherwise stated, self-drive prices, if included in our Trip Proposal, include basic collision damage and theft insurance policies. These policies limit your potential out-of-pockets costs for damage or theft, but do still have a deductible due in such instances. However, the deductible can be reduced to zero for a daily fee, payable upon picking up the vehicle. Also, our self-drive prices cover one designated driver (between 25 and 74 years of age) but a second driver can be added at initial pick-up for little or no fee (depending on branch location).

Responsibility: Cloud 9 acts only in the capacity of intermediary and agent for the suppliers and contractors which are selling services not directly supplied by Cloud 9, such as transportation, accommodation, golf, and other services. Cloud 9 is not responsible for any loss, injury, or damage caused by any Force Majeure, health issues, acts of God, acts of government or other entity, wars, or threat of war, industrial dispute, disaster, terrorism, riot or civil disorder, curtailment of transportation facilities, inclement weather or any other circumstance beyond Cloud 9’s control. Furthermore, Cloud 9 is not liable for injury, illness, accident, loss, damage or theft of luggage or personal belongings resulting from neglect or default of any golf, hotel or transportation supplier or from neglect or default of any other person supplying services or materials. Cloud 9 reserves the right to make any changes or cancellations to prices or package features to ensure the comfort and wellbeing of trip participants. Cloud 9 shall not be liable for any act, event, or omission of passengers sharing your transportation, nor for the damages, including theft of luggage or personal belongings, personal injury, accident or illness, that occur during your trip.
