ITINERARY

Day 1

Day 1

Arrive at the Dublin Airport and drive 3 hours and 20 minutes northwest to Letterkenny.

Check-In: Radisson Blu Letterkenny (5 Nights)

The Radison Blu Hotel Letterkenny is a 4-star hotel located in the heart of Letterkenny, County Donegal’s largest and most vibrant town. 114 contemporary yet elegant rooms and suites feature generous amenities, while the leisure center and award-winning Mulberry Restaurant offer plenty on-site for a comprehensive stay. *today’s pricing includes Superior rooms

Radisson Blu Letterkenny

Day 2

Day 2

Drive 40 minutes north to Portsalon.

Golf: Portsalon

With a history that dates to 1891 and a prime location alongside Ballymastocker Bay, it’s amazing a course like Portsalon continues to be overlooked. The opening shoreside stretch is awesome, especially the 2nd with view sweeping views across Lough Swilly, while the closing inland holes add variety. Pat Ruddy was brought in at the turn of the century to modernize the original layout but thankfully the club has always retained its charm.

Portsalon

Day 3

Day 3

Drive 40 minutes north to Rosapenna.

Golf: Rosapenna – St. Patrick’s Links

Golf at Rosapenna dates to the 1800s but the addition of the St Patrick’s Links course in 2021 has elevated the resort to soaring new heights. Designer Tom Doak actually reconfigured the remnants of two separate, dormant, 18-hole layouts into one spectacular modern links, his first in Ireland. The sprawling layout, which rises and falls amongst massive dunes along Sheephaven Bay, is simply a modern masterpiece.

St. Patrick’s Links

Golf: Rosapenna – Sandy Hills

Golf at Rosapenna’s Old Course dates to the 1800s but Pat Ruddy’s masterpiece, the Sandy Hills Links, truly put the club among Ireland’s finest. Ruddy’s design cuts straight through the largest of the dunes alongside the picturesque Sheephaven Bay, and the result is a little intimidating and a lot captivating.

Sandy Hills

Day 4

Day 4

Drive 1 hour and 5 minutes northeast to Ballyliffin.

Golf: Ballyliffin – Glashedy Course

Host of the 2018 Irish Open, the Glashedy Course is the newer of two fantastic courses at Ireland’s northern-most golf club. The club is located along a stretch of stunning coastline overlooking the Glashedy Rock, Ireland’s version of Turnberry’s Ailsa Craig. The signature par three 7th is a standout, with views that can only be described as vast across what feels like the entirety of County Donegal.

Ballyliffin Glashedy

Day 5

Day 5

Drive 1 hour west to Narin.

Golf: Narin and Portnoo

Narin and Portnoo is tucked away in the far northwest corner of Ireland and for most of its 90+ years of existence it has been out of mind and out of site of golf travelers, to say the least. That all changed recently when world-renowned architect Gil Hanse was brought in to enhance the simple elegance of the rugged coastal gem. Our advice is to get there soon before the masses get word of what he has done.

Narin and Portnoo

Drive 50 minutes north to Cruit Island.

Golf: Cruit Island (9 Holes)

Often regarded among the World’s greatest 9-hole courses, Cruit Island is Ireland’s most remote course and probably its most dramatic as well. The course is characterized by massive elevation changes and expansive views across to Owey Island but the highlight is probably the short 6th, which is perched precariously on the clifftops seemingly on the edge of the world.

Cruit Island

Day 6

Day 6

Drive 1 hour and 30 minutes northeast to Portrush.

Golf: Royal Portrush – Valley Links

Literally and figuratively in the shadow of it’s more famous neighbor, the Valley Course at Royal Portrush Golf Club lies between the East Strand Beach and the higher ground of the Dunluce Links. Renowned architect Harry Colt and, more rently, Martin Ebert both had a hand in the Valley’s layout, which plays across undulating terrain amidst towering dunes. It’s tons of fun at outstanding value and should not be overlooked.

Royal Portrush Valley

Drive 5 minutes west to Portrush.

Check-In: The Marcus Portrush (3 Nights)

The Marcus Portush is recently renovated boutique 4-star hotel operated by Hilton. From restored Victorian features to contemporary design, guests can enjoy boutique bedrooms, the vibrant Nemesis Asian Fusion restaurant, and handcrafted cocktails at The Heritage Bar. Just a short walk from Portrush’s stunning beaches, the best pubs in town and under a mile to the world famous Royal Portush Golf Club, the Marcus is perfectly located for exploring Causeway Coast!

Day 7

Day 7

Drive 5 minutes east to Portrush.

Golf: Royal Portrush – Dunluce

History, beauty, strategy, challenge, ambiance: the 2019 Open Championship host has it all. With views up the cliffs to Dunluce Castle, the signature 5th probably stands out. However, after a successful redesign project in advance of the 148th Open, there are no weak holes on this Harry Colt masterpiece.

Royal Portrush

Day 8

Day 8

Drive 15 minutes southwest to Portstewart.

Golf: Portstewart – Strand Course

From the very first tee shot, it is abundantly clear that Portstewart is something special. Throughout the first nine it feels as though you may be swallowed by gigantic dunes before the back opens up with views across the River Bann and beyond. Don’t be fooled by John Rahm’s record score of 24 under in the 2017 Irish Open, the Strand is anything but easy.

Portstewart Strand

Day 9

Day 9

Drive 2 hours south to Ardglass.

Golf: Ardglass

Ardglass is one of the most picturesque courses in Ireland and tons of fun. Golfers set out from the shadows of a 15th-century castle clubhouse, the oldest in golf, across a great mix of clifftop holes and risk-reward inland holes and inevitably leave wanting more.

Ardglass

Drive 45 minutes southwest to Newcastle.

Check-In: Slieve Donard Resort and Spa (2 Nights)

The Slieve Donard Resort and Spa is a 4-star property in Newcastle, County Down. The property is nestled alongside the Irish sea at the base of the Mourne Mountains and, in addition to its luxurious and stylish bedrooms, the resort is home to a world-class spa and the sophisticated Oak Restaurant. Most importantly, it’s just steps away from Royal County Down Golf Club so it really does check all of the boxes.

*today’s pricing includes Slieve King rooms

Day 10

Day 10

Golf: Royal County Down – Championship Links

Golf Digest’s top course in the world for several years running, RCD is nestled at the base of the Mourne Mountains and is truly a sight to behold. Don’t get lost in the scenery though; focus and strategy are paramount if you want to successfully navigate across and around the hollows and burrows that challenge golfer’s on just about every hole.

Royal County Down

Day 11

Day 11

Drive 1 hour north and 30 minutes south to Baltray.

Golf: County Louth

In terms of aesthetics, design, and quality, you would have to put County Louth, or Baltray as it is better known, among Ireland’s best courses. As you wind your way to the club’s isolated location north of Dublin alongside the Boyne estuary, anticipation builds and a feeling of solitude enhances the experience across 18 strong and enjoyable holes.

County Louth

Drive 45 minutes south to the Dublin Airport.

Check-In: Maldron Hotel (1 Night)

The Maldron Hotel Dublin Airport is a 4-star hotel and the closest hotel to the Dublin Airport. Guests can grab dinner at the Grain & Grill Restaurant and then get their day started with a Vitality Breakfast and a coffee from the Maldon’s very own Red Bean Roastery. Most importantly, the comfortable, contemporary rooms and location just a few minutes from both airport terminals make it the ideal stop for a stress-free final night in Ireland.

Payment of your initial deposit signifies your intent to travel with Cloud 9 Golf and Travel. Upon receipt of your payment, Cloud 9 will lock in your trip price with currency contracts and will pay non-refundable deposits to suppliers (golf courses, hotels, etc.) on your group’s behalf. Therefore, please note that payments made to Cloud 9 are non-refundable and we strongly encourage all clients to purchase travel insurance (shop travel insurance quotes here). Please see our T&Cs below for additional information regarding payment terms and policies.

Terms and Conditions

Cloud 9 will provide you with a Trip Proposal outlining the services that you have requested for your vacation package and applicable pricing. To accept the Trip Proposal, payment of the Initial Deposit must be made by or on behalf of all participants in your group. Once all deposits have been received, Cloud 9 will proceed with confirming the necessary bookings for your vacation. Payment of the Initial Deposit signifies your intent to appoint Cloud 9 to act as your agent to obtain the services you have requested. Payment of the Initial Deposit also signifies that you understand Cloud 9’s Booking Terms and Conditions, as outlined herein, and have accepted them on behalf of yourself and all members of your party. If you are booking as part of a group, you must designate a “Lead Participant” who is responsible for sharing these Terms and Conditions with each group member. Cloud 9 is not responsible for any group members misunderstanding of these terms and conditions.

Pricing: The per person trip price indicated in the agreed upon Trip Proposal is stated in US dollars and based on the number of participants as stated. If the number of participants changes, trip prices may change. Cloud 9 is not obligated to give a breakdown of the costs associated with a trip. Prices are valid for 14 days from the date the Trip Proposal is sent and, if all Initial Deposits have not been received within 14 days, Cloud 9 reserves the right to adjust the price.

Payments: Trip payments are payable directly to Cloud 9 and are payable by paper check, E-check/ACH, MasterCard, VISA or American Express. Unless otherwise stated above, payments are due to Cloud 9 in two installments and must be paid in accordance with the following schedule:

Initial Deposit – An Initial Deposit, as outlined in the agreed upon Trip Proposal, is due upon acceptance of the Trip Proposal. The Initial Deposit is non-refundable unless Cloud 9 is unable to provide tee times at any of the courses on your itinerary (this excludes the St. Andrews-Old Course if included through the advance application or any other courses that have been identified as being subject to availability).

Final Balance Payment – Unless otherwise stated, the final payment will be due approximately 90 days prior to departure and we will send an invoice to your group to confirm the exact due date.

Cancellations/Changes: Once Initial Deposit(s) are paid and trip bookings are in place, a Confirmed Itinerary will be sent to you to show all confirmed bookings for your trip. In certain instances, changes to your itinerary may be necessary at the time of booking and these will be communicated to the Lead Participant prior to confirmation. Once bookings are confirmed (will be shown in your Confirmed Itinerary) date changes or other changes to the agreed upon itinerary (as outlined in the Trip Proposal) are subject to availability and may result in additional charges, including the loss of non-refundable deposits, if applicable. Pricing changes will be confirmed with the Lead Participant in writing.

All payments to Cloud 9 are non-refundable (except as stated above in Payments regarding the Initial Deposit), so we strongly suggest that all of our clients purchase trip cancellation insurance and you can shop travel insurance quotes HERE. Specifically, we strongly encourage clients to purchase coverage for things like injury and illness (e.g. Covid-19), which allows travelers to recover trip costs should they have to cancel or suspend their trip. Costs associated with trip cancellation/interruption, medical expenses, and mandatory quarantine can all be covered to reduce risk. Group members who you choose to forgo travel insurance and then have to cancel their trip will assume full financial responsibility. Also, refunds cannot be issued for unused portions of the trip package, including for missed reservations due to disrupted air travel. Name changes are usually possible, and, with only a few exceptions, deposits are transferable should you need to find a replacement traveler.

In the case of a partial cancellation prior to final payment (only a portion of the group cancels), the trip price(s) for group member(s) who still plan to travel may increase to cover the unpaid prorated costs associated with the canceled trips.

Documentation: It is the duty of each group member to have a valid and current passport, if necessary, along with any other documents that may be necessary to travel (visas may be required for some destinations). Cloud 9 is not responsible for travel delays or cancellations that result from an invalid or missing travel documentation.

Course Handicap Requirements: Courses included on your itinerary may have handicap limits. It is the responsibility of each golfer to have a valid handicap card/certificate to present where required. Cloud 9 is not responsible for fees or cancellations that result from missing credentials.

Required Mobility: Some aspects of your trip may require a certain level of fitness and/or mobility to participate and it is up to each group member to assess their capabilities. Cloud 9 is not responsible for cancellations that result from a failure to meet these requirements.

Hotel Bookings: Unless otherwise stated, our price assumes double occupancy, shared rooms and is based on standard rooms. Upgrades are available at many hotels for an additional charge but requests for upgrades should be submitted to Cloud 9 upon paying your Initial Deposit.

Transportation: For chauffeured groups relying on the services of a driver, our price assumes that all group members will arrive and depart together from the same airport on the same day at approximately the same time. If additional transfers are required or an expense is incurred to cover a driver’s waiting time, the additional cost will be passed along to your group.

Unless otherwise stated, self-drive prices, if included in our Trip Proposal, include basic collision damage and theft insurance policies. These policies limit your potential out-of-pockets costs for damage or theft, but do still have a deductible due in such instances. However, the deductible can be reduced to zero for a daily fee, payable upon picking up the vehicle. Also, our self-drive prices cover one designated driver (between 25 and 74 years of age) but a second driver can be added at initial pick-up for little or no fee (depending on branch location).

Responsibility: Cloud 9 acts only in the capacity of intermediary and agent for the suppliers and contractors which are selling services not directly supplied by Cloud 9, such as transportation, accommodation, golf, and other services. Cloud 9 is not responsible for any loss, injury, or damage caused by any Force Majeure, health issues, acts of God, acts of government or other entity, wars, or threat of war, industrial dispute, disaster, terrorism, riot or civil disorder, curtailment of transportation facilities, inclement weather or any other circumstance beyond Cloud 9’s control. Furthermore, Cloud 9 is not liable for injury, illness, accident, loss, damage or theft of luggage or personal belongings resulting from neglect or default of any golf, hotel or transportation supplier or from neglect or default of any other person supplying services or materials. Cloud 9 reserves the right to make any changes or cancellations to prices or package features to ensure the comfort and wellbeing of trip participants. Cloud 9 shall not be liable for any act, event, or omission of passengers sharing your transportation, nor for the damages, including theft of luggage or personal belongings, personal injury, accident or illness, that occur during your trip.
