Old Head
Dangling off of Ireland's southern coast atop a promontory that towers hundreds of feet above the Atlantic, the Links of Old Head occupies perhaps the most spectacular setting for golf on the planet. Enough said.Lahinch
The 2019 Irish Open host shares the same stretch of County Clare's coastline with the Cliffs of Moher so designer Alistair MacKenzie had a great canvas on which to work. So good in fact, that after completion MacKenzie, who worked on the likes of Cypress Point and Royal Melbourne, called Lahinch the finest course that he or anyone else ever constructed.Ballybunion
Tom Watson’s favorite golf course is regularly ranked as Ireland’s best course and it's not hard to see why. The design's great variety of holes are carved between massive sand dunes and the result is a visually challenging but stunning test.Waterville
Waterville
Located at the end of the Ring of Kerry, Waterville effortlessly encapsulates the beauty and serenity of County Kerry's Macgillycuddy's Reeks Mountains and Atlantic shoreline. Don't be fooled though, as the course is as challenging as they come. In fact, member Tiger Woods has been known to fine-tune his game there in advance of the Open Championship.Tralee
Tralee
Tralee's layout plays across two distinctly different nines. The front is more subdued, although it has a fun mix of holes with the standout par 3 third playing towards castle ruins. The back, though, is pure magic and may be Ireland's best nine holes. With elevated views across miles of Atlantic coastline, the setting inspired designer Arnold Palmer to proclaim: “I designed the front 9 and god designed the back."
GROUND TRANSPORTATION
Coach With Full-Time Driver
Transportation for your trip would be in a mid-sized luxury motor coach, configured for groups of golfers with tables, reclining leather seats, and on-board wifi, along with a full-time* driver who would act as your group’s assistant. Cloud 9’s drivers offer welcoming hospitality along with local knowledge and can be invaluable components of a successful trip. The vehicle and driver will be available for your group’s sole use for the first 6 days in Ireland. We will also arrange a private group transfer to the Shannon Airport on your day of departure.
*per EU regulations, driver available for approximately 8 hours of driving across 11 total hours each day (hours are approximate and subject to change based on itinerary specifics)
ITINERARY
Day 1
Day 1
Arrive at the Shannon Airport and drive 2 hours south to Killarney.
Check In: Killarney Plaza Hotel (4 nights)
The Killarney Plaza Hotel is a 4-star hotel overlooking Killarney National Park in the Killarney town-center. Each of the hotel’s nearly 200 rooms overlook either the town or park and they have their own unique style, combining fine wood, soft furnishing and marble. Its simply hard to go wrong with the prime location and luxury accommodations at the gateway to the world-famous Ring of Kerry.
Day 2
Day 2
Drive 1 hour north to Tralee.
Golf: Tralee
Tralee’s layout plays across two distinctly different nines. The front is more subdued, although it has a fun mix of holes with the standout par 3 third playing towards castle ruins. The back, though, is pure magic and may be Ireland’s best nine holes. With elevated views across miles of Atlantic coastline, the setting inspired designer Arnold Palmer to proclaim: “I designed the front 9 and god designed the back.”
Recommended for Non-Golfers: Drive the Dingle Peninsula
The Dingle Peninsula has been called the most beautiful place in Ireland and its hard to argue. Traverse the dramatic landscape and you’ll rise to the breathtaking heights of Conor Pass and Mount Brandon and fall to sandy beaches neighbored by steep sea cliffs. And of course you can’t miss the charming town of Dingle, home to its famous resident dolphin Fungie.
Day 3
Day 3
Drive 1 hour and 30 minutes west to Waterville.
Golf: Waterville
Located at the end of the Ring of Kerry, Waterville effortlessly encapsulates the beauty and serenity of County Kerry’s Macgillycuddy’s Reeks Mountains and Atlantic shoreline. Don’t be fooled though, as the course is as challenging as they come. In fact, member Tiger Woods has been known to fine-tune his game there in advance of the Open Championship.
Recommended for Non-Golfers: Explore the Ring of Kerry
The Ring of Kerry is a circular route that stretches over 100 miles around the Iveragh Peninsula and it is equal parts beautiful and fascinating. There is too much to do and see in one trip, but some highlights that we recommend are the Gap of Dunloe, Staigue Stone Fort, the towns of Kenmare and Cahersiveen, and the Skellig Islands off the end of the peninsula.
Day 4
Day 4
Drive 2 hours southeast to Old Head.
Golf: Old Head
Dangling off of Ireland’s southern coast atop a promontory that towers hundreds of feet above the Atlantic, the Links of Old Head occupies perhaps the most spectacular setting for golf on the planet. Enough said.
Recommended for Non-Golfers: Explore Kinsale
The historic fishing town of Kinsale in County Cork is both delightful and significant. Colorful buildings sit along cobblestone streets that fall towards the town’s beautiful harbor, where this “foodie town” serves up some of Ireland’s best fresh fish. A visit just out of town to Charles Fort, though, will give a peek into the town’s more turbulent past.
Day 5
Day 5
Drive 1 hour and 15 minutes north to Ballybunion.
Golf: Ballybunion’s Old Course
Tom Watson’s favorite golf course is regularly ranked as Ireland’s best course and it’s not hard to see why. The design’s great variety of holes are carved between massive sand dunes and the result is a visually challenging but stunning test.
Recommended for Non-Golfers: Visit the Town of Adare
With traditional thatched cottages and ancient stone walls that preserve a strong Irish heritage, the town of Adare has been called Ireland’s “prettiest little village.” Cafes, pubs, and craft shops line the wondrous little village, or visitors can visit Desmond Castle along the River Maigue.
Drive 2 hours and 15 minutes north to Lahinch.
Check In: Vaughan Lodge (2 nights)
The Vaughan Lodge is a family-owned, boutique 4-star hotel in Lahinch, County Clare. The hotel has 30 rooms that are spacious and tastefully modern, plus the VL restaurant, which serves the best fine-dining seafood and local fare in the area. With Lahinch Golf Club just across the road and 4th generation hoteliers Michael and Maria Vaughan overseeing your stay, it’s surely the finest option in town.
Day 6
Day 6
Golf: Lahinch’s Old Course
The 2019 Irish Open host shares the same stretch of County Clare’s coastline with the Cliffs of Moher so designer Alistair MacKenzie had a great canvas on which to work. So good in fact, that after completion MacKenzie, who worked on the likes of Cypress Point and Royal Melbourne, called Lahinch the finest course that he or anyone else ever constructed.
Recommended for Non-Golfers: See the Cliffs of Moher
The Cliffs of Moher rise over 700 feet above the Atlantic and offer a unmatched views of Ireland’s dramatic coastal landscape. Visitors can climb the coastal path to O’Brien’s Tower, explore the informative exhibits in the Visitor Center, or even cruise below the cliffs for a unique perspective.

The prices shown above are valid for 14 days. In order to confirm the trip and lock in your trip price, the next step is to pay the initial deposits as outlined above via the Book Now link below.
Payment of your initial deposit signifies your intent to travel with Cloud 9 Golf and Travel. Upon receipt of your payment, Cloud 9 will lock in your trip price with currency contracts and will pay non-refundable deposits to suppliers (golf courses, hotels, etc.) on your group’s behalf. Therefore, please note that payments made to Cloud 9 are non-refundable and we strongly encourage all clients to purchase travel insurance (shop travel insurance quotes here). Please see our T&Cs below for additional information regarding payment terms and policies.
Terms and Conditions
Conditions:
Payment of your initial deposit signifies your intent to appoint Cloud 9 to act as your agent to obtain the services you have requested and a contract will come into existence once Cloud 9 issues your group a confirmation that your bookings have been made. Cloud 9 will then be responsible for providing your vacation once the bookings are confirmed.
Unless an alternative is explicitly discussed, it is the responsibility of the lead participant to share these Terms and Conditions with each trip participant and Cloud 9 is not responsible for any participants misunderstanding of these terms and conditions due to the failure of the lead participant to share this information. Payment of your initial deposit signifies that you understand our booking conditions and have accepted them on behalf of yourself and all members of your party.
Pricing:
Our prices are stated in US dollars and the per person trip price is based on the number of participants as stated in the agreed upon proposal. If the number of participants changes, trip prices may change. Also, Cloud 9 is under no obligation to give a breakdown of the costs associated with a trip. Prices are valid for 14 days from the date the proposal is sent and if all initial deposits have not been received after 14 days, Cloud 9 reserves the right to adjust the price.
Payments:
Trip payments are payable directly to Cloud 9 and are payable by check, E-check/ACH, MasterCard, VISA or American Express. Unless otherwise stated above, payments are due to Cloud 9 in two installments and must paid in accordance with the following schedule:
Initial Deposit – An initial deposit, as outlined in the pricing above, is due upon acceptance of our proposal. The initial deposit is non-refundable unless Cloud 9 is unable to provide tee times at any of the courses on your itinerary (this excludes the St. Andrews-Old Course if included through the advance application or any other courses that have been identified as being subject to availability).
Final Balance Payment – Unless otherwise stated, the final payment will be due approximately 90 days prior to departure and we will send an invoice to your group to confirm the exact due date.
Links Trust Payment – Groups that receive any tee times directly from the St. Andrews Links Trust must pay additional non-refundable payment(s) directly to the St. Andrews Links Trust. This agreement is exclusively between the group leader and the St. Andrews Links Trust and Cloud 9 is neither responsible for any missed payments nor responsible to deliver the agreed upon service. In some instances, our trip prices may include the St. Andrews Links Trust fees, but this is only for the purpose of full disclosure of your applicable trip costs and does not indicate that Cloud 9 is a party to the agreement between the lead golfer and the St. Andrews Links Trust.
Cancellations/Changes:
After reservations are in place and a confirmed itinerary has been approved by your group, date changes are subject to availability and may result in supplier charges resulting from such changes, including the loss of non-refundable deposits, if applicable.
It is the duty of each group member to have a valid and current passport if one is necessary to travel. Cloud 9 is not responsible for travel delays or cancellations that result from an invalid or missing passport.
All payments to Cloud 9 are non-refundable (except as stated above regarding the initial deposit), so we urge all of our clients to purchase trip cancellation insurance (shop travel insurance quotes here). Should you wish to forgo travel insurance and then have to cancel your trip, you will assume full financial responsibility in all circumstances. Also, refunds cannot be issued for unused portions of the trip package, including for missed reservations due to disrupted air travel. Name changes are usually possible and, with only a few exceptions, deposits are transferable should you need to find a replacement traveler.
If your group is unable to travel due to COVID travel restrictions, then all trip payments are transferrable to a later trip date, within 1 year of your original date of travel (unless travel restrictions persist beyond a year in which case the rescheduling window will be extended). Our COVID cancellation policies mirror those of our suppliers (golf courses, hotels, etc.) and any other concessions, like trip refunds, would only be granted with the full cooperation of the suppliers.
In the case of a partial cancellation prior to final payment (only a portion of the group cancels), the trip price(s) for group member(s) who still plan to travel may increase to cover the unpaid prorated costs associated with the cancelled trips.
Courses included on your itinerary may have handicap limits. It is the responsibility of each golfer to have a valid handicap card/certificate to present where required and Cloud 9 is not responsible for fees or cancellations that result from missing credentials.
Bookings:
Unless otherwise stated, our price assumes double occupancy, shared rooms and is based on standard rooms. Upgrades are available at many hotels for an additional charge but requests for upgrades should be submitted to Cloud 9 upon paying your initial deposit.
For chauffeured groups relying on the services of a driver, our price assumes that all group members will arrive and depart together from the same airport on the same day at approximately the same time. If additional transfers are required or an expense is incurred to cover a driver’s waiting time, the additional cost will be passed along to your group.
Self-drive prices in our proposal include collision and theft insurance policies with small deductibles. However, the deductible can be reduced to zero for a daily fee, payable upon picking up the vehicle. Also, our self-drive prices cover one designated driver but a second driver can be added at initial pick-up for little or no fee (depending on branch location).
Responsibility:
Cloud 9 acts only in the capacity of agent for the passengers in all matters relating to transportation, accommodation, golf, and other services. Cloud 9 is not responsible for any loss, injury, or damage caused by: Any Force Majeure, health issues, acts of God, acts of government or other entity, wars, or threat of war, industrial dispute, disaster, terrorism, riot or civil disorder, curtailment of transportation facilities, inclement weather or any other circumstance beyond its control. Furthermore, Cloud 9 is not liable for injury, illness, accident, loss, damage or theft of luggage or personal belongings resulting from neglect or default of any golf, hotel or transportation supplier or from neglect or default of any other person supplying services or materials. Cloud 9 reserves the right, without advance notice, to make any changes or cancellations, in part or in whole, as circumstances dictate. Cloud 9, as well as the airlines, motor coach operator and any other transportation company, when used, shall not be liable for any act, event, or omission of passengers that are on board their conveyance that results in loss, damage or theft of luggage or personal belongings, or personal injury, accident or illness.
