Thanks to World Top 100 courses at Fancourt and Leopard Creek and a supporting cast of memorably dramatic courses, South Africa holds its own with the worlds best golf destinations. However, its the non-golfing offerings that take South Africa to another level. With the world’s longest wine route, some of the best shark-diving and whale watching anywhere, and of course the greatest safari lodges on planet earth, your trip to South Africa will be unlike any other.

Pick Your Trip Duration

Based on our own experiences and those of our past clients, we’ve built 2 bucket list golf trips which we think you will love:

Fancourt Links

Pezula

Pinnacle Point

Fancourt Montagu

Pearl Valley

9 Nights, 5 Rounds

What You Can Expect:

South Africa is almost twice as big as Texas so its tough to see it all in one go. If you want to get the most out of your trip without having to take a cross country flight, the Western Cape is definitely the place to go. Starting in the far southwest in the shadow of Table Mountain is Cape Town, one of the world’s most beautiful and historic cities. Then moving east through the Cape Winelands you’ll head to the Garden Route, home of the 2003 Presidents Cup host, Fancourt Links.

Leopard Creek

13 Nights, 6 Rounds

What You Can Expect:

While the Western Cape has to be a priority for any golfer visiting South Africa, its hard to leave the world-famous Kruger National Park off of your itinerary. So, we recommend that you add several nights in the country’s far northeast (flight required) to play Leopard Creek and enjoy a series of safaris in the world’s best game-viewing area.

*Note: If you wish to avoid the cross-country flight, ask your Cloud 9 representative about a couple of great safari options in the Western Cape that are great replacements for Kruger National Park in this itinerary.

This is a tricky question to answer since the seasons for golf and game-viewing run just about opposite of each other in South Africa. May through September is peak game-viewing season, when cold and dry weather brings the animals out of their shelters. However, October through April is when you will fine the warmest and driest weather in Cape Town. With all of that said, we recommend April through May or September through October. These months will give you the best of both areas and will also allow you to take advantage of lower shoulder season rates.
Our vehicles fit group’s of all sizes so there is no perfect group size. The larger the group, though, the earlier you will need to book your trip to ensure availability, especially those groups hoping to stay at a safari lodge.
Absolutely. Your group’s driver will be available to the non-golfers while the golfers are at the course, meaning a fairly full sightseeing itinerary is feasible in conjunction with any golfing itinerary.
The easy answer is: the earlier the better. Let’s be a bit more specific though. Golf course tee sheets begin to fill up 3-6 months in advance but safari lodges can be booked out more than 1 year in advance. To ensure optimal availability, we recommend booking 1 year prior to travel.
