The Punta Cana region in the Dominican Republic’s southeast is the crown jewel of Caribbean golf. Casa de Campo’s Teeth of the Dog originally put DR golf on the map but more recent designs at Punta Espada and Corales have elevated it to another level. The legend of the Teeth of the Dog Course begins with Pete Dye. Through sheer will and the help of a dedicated team of laborers, Dye put golf in the Caribbean on the map in the early 70s when he basically carved the course by hand. Dye himself has suggested it is his best work but even he would admit that the man upstairs played a huge role in its success, as the seven seaside holes star the show.Punta Espada
The Jack Nicklaus design at Cap Cana isn't the DR's best-know course but it is arguably the best. The layout feels remarkably natural and the dramatic ocean holes don't just run along the shore, they are seemingly a part of it. The Caribbean is always on display but the layout offers a great variety of visuals, shots, and sight lines. It's worth the trip just to play it.Corales
Located at the Puntacana Resort & Club and host of the PGA tour since 2018, Corales has quickly made a name for itself in just a decade. Despite its championship length, huge landing areas make it very playable for everyone. The finish to each nine atop the rugged coastline is where the magic happens and the and the tee shot at 18 over the Bay of Corales will be one you want to savor.Casa de Campo - Dye Fore
The 27-hole Dye Fore doesn't get the recognition that several of the DR's other top courses get and, consequently, visitors are quite shocked when they see just how good it is. The "Chavon" nine sits high atop the deep and winding Chavon River and the expansive views down to the marina and beyond are to die for.La Cana
Pete Dye's son, P.B., got in on the DR design act with his own three nines at La Cana. The holes twist and turn through the tropical vegetation of the Puntacana Resort and the Tortuga and Arrecife nines visit the clear blue waters of the Caribbean shore on several occasions.

What You Can Expect:
If you only have 3 rounds to play in the DR, or in all of the Caribbean for that matter, its not hard to settle on these 3. All-inclusive resorts are the most popular accommodation options in the Punta Cana area for obvious reasons. However, a private villa with a pool won’t break the bank and is the preferred option for many golfing groups.

Beyond the “Big 3” courses in Punta Cana, a couple of others are worthy additions to an extended itinerary. La Cana is a fun beach-side links and Dye Fore is probably the most unique and underrated course in the area. For the best golf experience and perfect beach tan, six nights is ideal.

The most important thing to consider is that hurricane season runs from June through November, so it is best to avoid the summer and fall. With warm temperatures year-round, both the winter and spring are great times to visit. Our recommendation is anytime from March through May, which will miss the winter (peak-season) crowds and offer reduced shoulder season rates.
Our vehicles fit group’s of all sizes so there is no perfect group size. The larger the group, though, the earlier you will need to book your trip to ensure availability.
Absolutely. There is plenty to do on the beautiful beaches and in the crystal-clear waters of the DR to occupy the non-golfers traveling with your group. An all-inclusive resort might be a good option, with resort activities and day trips on offer to fill an itinerary.
The easy answer is: the earlier the better. Let’s be a bit more specific though. Hotels and golf course tee sheets begin to fill up for the busy peak season 3-6 months in advance. To ensure optimal availability (especially for winter travel), we recommend booking 6 months prior to travel.
