Your Bucket List Spain Golf Trip Starts Here!
Spain stands out among Continental Europe’s golf destinations for two important reasons: it has the best courses AND they are concentrated in the Spanish golfing mecca of Andalusia along the country’s southern coastline. The cream of the cop is Valderrama, but there are several other worthy contenders nearby along the appropriately named Costa del Sol, where the sun is almost always shining.
Whether you know exactly what you want or know nothing at all, we’re here to help you plan an amazing Spain Golf trip!

The Best of Marbella
Suggested Golf Courses:
Valderrama, Finca Cortesin, Marbella Club, La Hacienda, La Zagaleta, Rio Real
A week in the South of Spain is as good as it gets for a European golf trip but there is more to the area than just golf. We recommend a stay in Marbella to experience the rich culture in the city’s Old Town. You’ll also be centrally located to explore the best of Andalusia, with day trips to Ronda, Malaga or even Seville surely finding their way onto your itinerary.
Costa del Golf
Golf Courses:
Valderrama, Finca Cortesin, Sotogrande, La Reserva, San Roque, La Hacienda
If golf is your sole focus, then you can cut out the driving and stay local in or near Sotogrande, with the best of the best in Spanish golf right on your doorstep. In fact, you will find all of the courses listed above (and more!) within 20 minutes of your hotel so it’s the ideal spot for a jam-jacked golf itinerary.

Valderrama
Valderrama
The "Augusta of Europe" has been regarded as Europe's best course for many decades and hosted the 1997 Ryder Cup, so you've probably heard of it! Valderrama is as much an experience as it is a course, as the club works hard to ensure every last blade of grass is immaculately presented and the service is consistently excellent. It's 5-star in every way.Sotogrande
The original Robert Trent Jones design in the area (RTJ also did nearby Valderrama) which opened in 1964, Sotogrande is the oldest of Costa del Sol's great courses but it is still challenging to this day. It has a wonderful variety of holes and requires great strategy, as well-placed bunkers and water hazards cause players to think through most every shot.La Reserva
Quite frankly, La Reserva gets a little lost in a very competitive market with so many top courses nearby, but its a worthy addition to any itinerary. The course cuts through two connecting valleys and plays back up to the magnificent clubhouse with views down to the Mediterranean along the way.Finca Cortesin
Finca Cortesin
A resort course with a championship quality, the European Tour and 2023 Solheim Cup host course is quite stunning. Designer Cabell Robinson created a harmonious relationship between the natural Mediterranean landscape and the beautifully maintained course. Its tough to pick out a signature hole among 18 strong holes, but we are partial to the 15th which requires near perfect execution to escape unscathed.San Roque - Old
San Roque is located in the foothills of the Sierra Bermeja, where the mountain meets the sea. The club has two outstanding courses which have each hosted the Spanish Open, but the Old Course gets the slight edge thanks to the maturity of its classic layout. Every shot has value; once you navigate through the cork oak trees and around the strategically-placed, back-nine water hazards, you reach the intricately contoured greens which require your full attention.La Hacienda - Links
La Hacienda - Links
La Hacienda Alcaidesa Links Golf Resort is in one of the most enviable locations along the Coast del Sol, with views that stretch to Gibraltar and Africa. The property's premier course, The Links, descends across rolling clifftop terrain in an amphitheater-like setting with the Mediterranean on full display throughout. The course originally opened in 1990 but an extensive refurbishment has just been completed, creating a luxury golf experience that rivals the best in the region.Marbella Club
Set in the hills of Benahavis, the setting at the Marbella Club is quite something. The contoured fairways meander past lakes and waterfalls and views out to the Mediterranean can stretch to the African coastline. With starting times often 30 minutes apart, the detached serenity is simply joyous.Real Club De Golf Sevilla
Jose Maria Olazabal's Real Sevilla is located a few hours north of Costa del Sol in Andalusia's capital city. Unlike the rolling coastal terrain to the south, the site upon which Real Sevilla sits is mostly flat, so designer Olazabal has to put his own spin on things with sand, water, palm-lined fairways and small exacting greens. This former WGC host and three time Spanish Open host makes for a great reason to visit Sevilla.
